The Quarry Pines Golf Club is a one-of-a-kind Golf Course in Tucson, Arizona. If you are looking for a golf experience that is unusual yet interesting, then this is your kind of course.
The course is located in the Town of Marana and originally opened in December of 1997 and designed as a Scottish Links style course. It opened as “The Links at Continental Ranch” and constructed along the edge of a large sand and gravel quarry which is up to 100 feet deep!
A few homes overlook portions of the golf course with the nearest major subdivision being Continental Ranch and the Town of Marana.
In 2000, following a decision to abandon the sand and gravel quarry adjacent to the original golf course, the Town of Marana and the quarry/golf course owner agreed on a plan that would reclaim the quarry. After a significant reconstruction of the site a unique desert golf course was created.
Named Quarry Pines Golf Club, the front nine play along the rim of the old quarry and the back nine moves up and down the quarry walls. Firm sloping fairways and usually fast greens require accurate shots placed in the correct spot on the green.
The course provides an experience you won’t forget. Bring an extra sleeve ( or 2 ) of golf balls. The Pines Golf Club has recently been renamed the Quarry Pines Golf Club.

For passionate golfers, living near a golf course seems like a pipe dream.
Imagine waking up on a Saturday morning and spending a quiet time over a good cup of coffee, staring over your backyard, and beyond that lies a lush green fairway, embellished with tall trees and dotted with golfers peacefully completing their rounds.
The truth is, this could be a reality if you live in a golf course community. Even if you don’t play golf, you can benefit from all the good things that come with living near a golf course.
When searching for a golf course community to live in, determining the pros and cons can help you decide if a home near a golf course is the right choice for you and the entire family. Here are some factors you should keep in mind:
Privacy
Pros: Say goodbye to your rowdy neighbor’s noise. Living near a golf course assures you of total peace, amazing views, and well-manicured fairways. If you want a balance of luxury and nature, consider purchasing a house in The Stone Canyon Club, a private golf community set at the base of the breathtaking Tortolita Mountains.
Cons: While hitting some golf balls in the course sounds great, an airborne ball landing on your property seems terrible. If you don’t want to deal with broken windows, cars, and other kinds of ball damage, opt for a home away from the fairways.
Amazing views from your golf course home
Pros: Both avid golfers and non-players will benefit from the beautiful sight of green fairways. And during tournament schedules, you immediately have a prime viewing spot for yourself in the comfort of your own home.
Cons: If you live near a famous golf course that hosts large tournaments, chances are they will have large crowds. So, a weekend trip to a nearby grocery store on a tournament day may get you stuck in traffic for hours.
Additionally, golf courses are usually mowed early in the morning, which may serve as an excellent view for morning people. If you’re a nocturnal person, it would be better if your room is not facing the golf course to avoid being interrupted by external noise.
Easy golf access
Pros: Living near a golf course situates you up close and personal to a fantastic playground and its amenities. You’re just a few minutes away from the course—all you need to do is grab your best golf clubs and other golf equipment, spend a few peaceful minutes walking to the golf course, and play as much as you like. A dream come true, indeed!
Pros: Living in a golf course community is an investment in a premium lifestyle, too. Residents usually enjoy low crime rates and closer proximity to shopping centers, schools, and entertainment.
Cons: It may take a long time to find the right property for you, which is why you may need the help of experienced real estate agents in Tucson.
Bottom Line
Purchasing a home near a golf course has its pros and cons. If you need assistance in choosing the best home for you, we highly suggest consulting expert real estate agents to take the stress out of searching for the perfect property.

Robert Bruce Harris, noted golf course architect, design this championship golf course. The course was a focal point for the property developed by the Landon group. The course opened on December 28, 1958.
Oro Valley Country Club Inc. was formed in June 1959. Member ownership of the Club was not accomplished until February 15, 1961. The golf course, clubhouse, pro shop, swimming pool and 235 home sites were part of the deal. And the Oro Valley Water Company franchise.
Renovation of the golf course began in the summer of 1987. Keith Foster of the Arthur Hill Company did the redesign. The redesign included creating a retention lake that runs down the left side of the 18th fairway.
The combination of the lake and waterfall made the 18th hole the signature hole. And having the Pusch Ridge view as a back drop didn’t hurt. The 18th at Oro Valley Country Club is one of the best finishing holes in Arizona. And one of the hardest.
Homes in Oro Valley Country Club Estates have views. Views of the golf course and Santa Catalina Mountains. Homes on the golf course are 1 story. Architecture ranges from vintage southwest design to modern contemporary styles.

A wide range of home styles populate this area of Tucson.
Skyline Country Club opened in the early 1960’s and named the Skyline Country Club and Resort. It became one of the first large-scale developments in the prestigious Catalina Foothills.
The Clubhouse is a three story structure with oak and glass doors. A spacious marble-floored foyer welcomes you with an inviting sitting area. There you can relax while waiting for your guests to arrive.
The entry leads to the main floors formal dining area. A crystal chandelier adds elegance to the members dining room. The lower floor is the informal area of the Club. There you have a choice of three casual dining rooms.
But there is more then dining at Skyline Country Club. A fitness center and spa, locker rooms and Golf Shop are among the pleasures members enjoy. Near the fitness center is the Olympic size lap pool. This gorgeous heated pool is available for use all year round.
The Course
The golf course is challenging 18 hole, par 71 golf course. It is a short course at under 6,000 yards. The fairways wind through the Sonoran Desert. And elevation changes and views make this special place to play golf.
But you may want to leave your driver in the locker room. Fairways are narrow and with the elevation change the ball runs wild. Play it safe off the tee with fairway metals and hybrids. It will save you strokes and golf balls.

Stone Canyon Golf Club looks out over the rocky desert landscape in The Town Of Oro Valley. Gourse designer Jay Morrish was “dumbstruck” when he first saw the terrain.
The golf facilities span the northeast foothills of the Tortolita Mountains. The Santa Catalina Mountains provide dramatic scenes across the course. Craggy rock formations with petroglyphs border the fairways.
The petroglyphs remind us the Hohokam Indians lived in the area 2,000 years ago.
The course winds through the desert with each hole isolated from the next. Giant saguaros sit as spectators along the ridges. Taking note of good shoots and bad. And countless native trees — ironwood, mesquite and palo verde. Dotting the landscape were the yellow flowering brittlebush, purple verbena and desert lavender.
After seeing the land for the first time, some folks said Morrish uttered: “I hope I don’t mess it up.” Little chance of that.
Stone Canyon was Morrish’s 50th course, a milestone in his award-winning 36-year career. Morrish had designed great course while working with Tom Weiskopf.
The course opened in 2000 and received immediate recognition for its design. As homes were build in community, the membership grew.
A New Owner
But the downturn in real estate brought the growth to and end. And Stone Canyon Club, like many other exclusive golf clubs, fell on hard times.
In 2014, Stone Canyon Club became a new course in the portfolio of the Mickelson Golf Properties. Yes, that Phil Mickelson.
Mickelson made changes to the course after buying it. Most changes made the course play a bit easier. Removing bunkers in the front of greens made it easier for players to hit shots on the greens.
Designed as a desert course, Stone Canyon required accurate drives. Something most players don’t have. While fairways remain tight, clearing areas off the fairways made finding balls easier.
In 2017, greens were redone and made bigger. Fewer bunkers, bigger greens better scores.
And a new clubhouse was completed in 2016. It is a stunning facility with views of the golf course and Catalina Mountains.
Stone Canyon is a members only private club. The only way you can play it is become a member or know someone who is.

Designed by John Fought and British Open Champion and 2006 Ryder Cup Captain Tom Lehman, is ranked #1 in Southwest Arizona by Golf Digest and is acknowledged as one of Golfweek’s Top 100 Modern Courses.
And, no wonder. Sweeping High Sonoran views distract in every direction as the nines meander through two rugged canyons.
The result is 18 irresistible holes as enjoyably playable for the higher handicap golfer as they are challenging for the touring professional.
The Gallery South Course
The south courses makes The Gallery one of the few private clubs in the country with two acclaimed golf courses. And Golf Digest’s put it in the top 100 Bestcourses. John Fought’s Gallery South Course differs from The North Course. Since the terrian is different, so is the design. It’s links style reminiscent of Donald Ross’ Pinehurst #2.
The South Course became the first venue of the WGC Accenture Match Play Championship. And hosted it for 3 years.
There is a wide range of life styles available in the communities near the Gallery.
Subdivision surround both the North and South courses. Homes are available from the mid $600,000 to well over
$1 Million.
In the gated community of Canyon Pass prices are $1 to $4 Million.

Ventana Canyon Golf Courses provides two 18 hole courses. The courses sit on similiar terrain, but are different. The Mountain course sits higher up in the Catalina Mountain.
The Canyon is lower and meanders through the valleys. But both are challenging layouts. Tom Fazio designed both. He won Golf Magazine’s Gold Medal Award and Links Magazine’s Best of Golf Award for their design.
Both golf courses are impressive and are “must plays” any player. Fair off the tee, demanding approaches and lots of big breaking putts. Bring extra balls, you will need them.
Course conditions are perfect and will make your experience a memorable.
Each course has dramatic golf holes carved out of rock or overlooking the city. Elevated tee boxes provide panoramic views of the City and Tucson Mountains. And wildlife roam both courses. So keep your favorite camera ready.
You will be able to play the Mountain course on even days and the Canyon course on odd days.
The Club And Homes
Ventana is a semi-private golf club. Members alternate between the two course every other day. Outside play is on the course not played by members. Play one of Fazio’s first and best designs at Ventana!

Silverbell Golf Course is relative flat. Wide undulating fairways meander among stands of mature pine trees. Bunkers are strategically placed and two large lakes that come in to play on five holes. Silverbell has a variety of holes to challenge a golfer’s skill and finesse.
If you are on the “tips” you had better bring “the big dog” cause its long! Par is 70 golf and has five par 3’s & three par 5’s. Silverbell fairways are generous, but the layout will test golfers of all abilities from beginner to professional.

Tucson AZ Golf Courses – Fred Enke Golf Course – 520 – 791 – 2539
Tips On Tucson AZ Golf Courses
Tucson AZ golf courses include the Fred Enke Golf Course. It is a true desert golf experience among the Tucson AZ golf courses. Fred Enke’s interesting features are its vast teeing areas, large greens, strategic bunkers and sand traps and its creation as a semi-arid, limited turf course.
Fred Enke is one of the golf courses in Tucson that has grass only on the tees, ball landing areas, and greens. It has undisturbed native plants covering the remainder of the landscaping.
Fred Enke is one of the better courses among the Tucson AZ golf courses. With 4 teeing areas on each hole, players can challenge their skills from 5,000 to 6,800 yards. Because of its rather hilly terrain, golf carts are recommended.
The first few times you play this course, you won’t have a clue where you’re supposed to put the ball on some holes. However, if you give the course a chance, it may turn out to be one of your favorite tracks in Tucson.
As one of the municipal Tucson AZ golf courses, the desert is a bit of a challenge. If you hit your ball into the “stuff”, you may not want to go looking for it. Lots of road runners and coyote, even the occasional bobcat.
Once you learn your way around the course, it will likely become one your favorites. The 9th is really tough to par. Only complaint is the rather ordinary finishing hole. Otherwise a great desert layout!
Opened in December of 1983 and located on the South side of Tucson. As with many Tucson Golf Courses, the photo opportunities abound. Fred Enke Golf Course is locate East of Kolb on Irvington.

Casino Del Sol Tucson opened the Sewailo golf course in 2013.
Sewailo, which means “flower world” in the Pascua Yaqui language.
While the name may be calm and inviting, this course can humble you in a nano second. The course is a blend of dessert landscape and picturesque lakes and streams.
Yes, it is in the desert, but with lakes and streams. Who would have thought that up? Answer….Notah Begay.
Some may remember that he was on the Stanford golf team with….oh, what’s his name? Tiger Woods.
Notah made it to the PGA Tour and won four times. Now is a frequent commentator on The Golf Channel providing insight into what players are facing on the course.
The Course
This unique and challenging course measures 7,400 yards from the championship tees. But fear not. Each hole has five different tee boxes to accommodate players of all abilities.
But your easiest shots will be on the expansive driving range and practice area.
From your first tee shot to the final putt, the course forces you to hit good shots. Fairways are firm and the ball runs and runs and runs. Hidden fairway slopes will take your ball into one of the lakes or a creek.
Large gaping bunkers await the errant shot. Bunkers with steep fronts on a hole that demands a long approach shot. Ba humbug. A bogey or worse awaits.
The course is available to guests of the Resort and the public. Lessons are available to help beginners and more skilled players find their game.
Sewailo is home to the U of A golf team and enhances Tucson’s reputation as a golf destination.
The Casino
Casino Del Sol Tucson Resort is nestled on the quite high desert. Its location is just 15 minutes from the Tucson International Airport and downtown City of Tucson.
See Map to Casino Del Sol Resort and Sewailo golf course.
The Casino Del Sol Tucson hotel has 215 luxurious rooms and suites. The resorts 65,000 square feet of indoor/outdoor function space is ideal for large events and conferences.
And of course the casino is always open.

Arizona National Golf Club resides in the stunning Santa Catalina Mountains. And the Coronado National Forest is a 4 iron away. The setting provides panoramic mountain views studded with giant saguaros.
Arizona National Golf Course is a Robert Trent Jones Jr. design. The layout flows across the rugged natural terrain of the foothills. Mesquite-lined arroyos and rocky outcroppings narrow landing areas that can intimate any player.
The course is challenging if not down right difficult based on the tees selected. Elevation changes and forced carries over desert expanses demand precision.
Elevated tees and natural water hazards add to the difficulty. The finishing hole is one of the most memorable on the course. The tee box is 200 feet above the fairway. It is a photo opportunity if there ever was one. But a lake along the left side and trees on the right make it a tough finishing hole.
Arizona National Golf Club was used by the U of A Wildcats Men’s and Women’s golf teams many years.
A Wall of Fame honors former University of Arizona golfers and championship teams. The Wall near the 18th Green displays NCAA champions and professional players.
The Champions Room features memorabilia from many of the current players. Championship trophies and golf bags are proudly displayed. Annika Sorenstam, Jim Furyk, Ricky Barnes and Ted Purdy are players from the U of A that have made their mark in the professional ranks.
U of A continues to provide some of the brightest stars on the PGA, LPGA and Champion Tours.
