Find A Home In This Historic Community South Of Tucson
Vail Arizona Homes are about 30 minutes southeast of Tucson off I-10. Vail was originally a siding and water stop on the Southern Pacific Railroad.
The town name comes from Edward and Walter Vail. Ranchers who migrated to the area in the late 1870’s.
Edward Vail owned the Vail Ranch. His brother Walter Vail owned the nearby Empire Ranch. The Empire Ranch is now part of the Las Cienegas National Conservation Area.
They also developed a large silver mine operation with the Total Wreck Mine in the Empire Mountains. Using profits from ranching and mining, they expanded the Empire Ranch until it stretched from the Santa Rita Mountains to the Mexican Border, between the Santa Cruz and San Pedro Rivers.
Vail Arizona became a town in 1893. It is part of unincorporated Pima County and has no legal boundary.
The population is over 10,000 people as of the 2010 census. Projections suggest the 2020 population is around 13,000.
Vail Arizona Homes and families are served by the Vail School District. The school district was founded in 1903. Vail School District was once a ranching community with a one-room schoolhouse. Over a 100 years later, the School District continues to serve the community with 19 facilities.
Combining old-fashioned values of hard work and high standard with modern mediums and with up-to-date methods.
Because the Vail/SE Tucson region of Southern Arizona has experienced immense residential and commercial growth over the past decade, the Vail School District is now one of the fastest growing districts in Arizona.
At present, the School District has seven elementary schools, four middle schools, two comprehensive high schools, an alternative high school, and two charter schools. 10,259 students are currently enrolled in grades K-12.
