Blanco Taco + Tequila Restaurant Review. “Blanco’s” is an Upscale Mexican restaurant in the Catalina Foothills north of Tucson.
Blanco’s is located in the La Encantada shopping mall. This Tucson restaurant is a happening spot. Brillant City of Tucson lights sparkle at night from patio and inside window seating. Blanco’s is perfect for a Mexican Food dining experience at sunset.
Customers return again and again to this popular Tucson spot in La Encantada.
Blanco is not your standard Tex-Mex restaurant. No Mexican décor or bland foods. The restaurant has an open and airy design. The variety of Mexican food is unique even in Tucson. The food is consistent and a variety of Margarita’s are available!
The food at Blanco Taco + Tequila is a great destination at any time. After some power shopping it is almost mandatory.
For a date night you can’t go wrong at Blanco Taco. The views, food and beverages of menu choices will not disappoint.

Some other very good nearby Tucson dining includes Fleming’s. It is kitty corner from La Encantada on the Southeast corner. Vivace is just across Campbell to the East.
On the south side of Skyline across from La Encantada you will find the Wild Garlic Grill at its new location.
A Tucson favorite is the Hacienda Del Sol. You will need to go west on Skyline to Hacienda Del Sol road. Go south, you can’t miss it.

The Landing restaurant is a spin off from Fini’s Landing in the Foothills. Although small, it presents the beach comer theme of its sister store and similar menu.
This is what a sports bar on a beach would be, without the beach. With over a dozen TV’s around the place, watching your favorite team is easy.
The main dining area surrounds the bar that offers 2 dozen plus beers on tap. For wines, the selection is a bit limited. A couple of house wines and a few bottles with labels you may not recognize.
The bar sits in the middle of the room with the booths and tables around it. There is also a patio area, but the noise from Oracle Road can be a challenge.
Menu – Location – Hours
The Landing menu presents a nice array of Southern California or Mexico “on the beach” food. Fish tacos, burgers, spicy chicken wings, bowls, sandwiches and lots more. For those looking for susi, try the Blackened Ahi Sashimi.
Oh, there is also a breakfast menu on Sundays from 9 to 11 AM. Nothing fancy, but good.
One more thing, live music is often there on Fridays and/or Saturday.
This is a favorite stop for Kim and me. I get the Chubasco Shrimp Tacos and Kim’s goes for the Shrimp Bowl.
The Landing is at 8195 N. Oracle Road.
Open 7 Day a week till 10:00 PM, except Friday then 11 PM.
Its on the west side of Oracle Road about a quarter of a mile north of Magee Road. Mister Car Wash is in the same area.

You have finished your round of golf at the Crooked Tree Golf Course. That’s at the corner of Thornydale Road and W. Overton Road.
As you turn north, you see a large neon sign in the strip mall to the east – Persian Room Fine Dining!
You say to yourself – Strip Mall and Fine Dining. What’s wrong with this picture? The answer is, could be the location, but not the fine dining.
The strip mall location and the exterior hide a dining experience you won’t forget. Behind the door is a place you would not expect in Tucson.
What’s Inside?
The first thing you see as you enter is a large water fountain. Ok, not that unusual, but the tall glass center piece with a robbed figure is. That along with the massive chandler and red columns and ceiling decor are hints of whats to come.
Enter the dining area a behold the high ceilings, big chandlers and mural ceilings. A big open space that is both elegant and relaxed.
Take a seat at a table or booth and settle in. Open the menu and take in the diverse offerings of true Persian dishes.
The menu is intimidating. Lots of choices, but most unfamiliar to those not familiar with the cuisine.
So, order a drink, and start your expedition through the menu.
So Many Things, So Little Time
Persian cuisine at its finest. Plenty of kabobs – tenderloin, lamb, beef, Mahi, etc. Rice, breads and side dishes also excellent. Stews of various sorts. Seasonings are aromatic and tasty.
The koobideh is the most moist and flavorful I’ve had! Both the lamb and beef were delicious. Get the special rice substitute, loobia polo!! It’s a meal in itself!
Homemade baklava is delicious! Soft pastry and a balance of cinnamon/nuts/honey. If that is not enough, the Persian ice cream is an excellent blend of pistachio and rose water.
Oh, One observation. The meals need a warning sign — HUGE!! There is lots – lots – lots of food. That means – leftovers!!
The service is good and the ambience very pleasant. All in all, an excellent restaurant which we will recommend.

Union Public House opened in late 2011 in St. Phillips Plaza on the southeast corner of E River Road and Campbell Avenue.
Union Public House is one the newer gastropubs on Tucson’s restaurant landscape. Craft beers, good food and a great happy hour. In 2015, the Union Public House Happy Hour was voted the best in Tucson, AZ.
Arizona’s craft beers are featured. Microbrews from Sedona, Temps and Flagstaff are featured.
The Public House menu presents American comfort food with a special flair. It could be called pub food, but the chefed up touches add unique flavors to every dish.

The “all day” menu is extensive. Lots of options from simple starters and sharable cutting boards to NY strip steak. And of course Burgers, sandwiches and pizza. This is pub food, but better. Lots of great choices and add ons.

Opened in 2019 by Noelle and Daniel the Cafe has become a neighborhood place to “Go To” for “To Go” French treats. All menu items will be cold when you buy then. You will need to take them home and warm them up.

One of the specialties is named the “French Brest”.
Named after a bicycle race that runs from the French capital, Paris to Brest, a naval town in Brittany. In 1910 a local pastry chef, Louis Durand created a dessert to help promote the race.
A wheel-shaped pastry made of pate a choux, or cream puff dough, slit, and filled with hazelnut mousse. Piped into the pastry with a fluted pastry tip to mimic the spokes of a bicycle wheel.

The Parish holds a unique spot on the list of outstanding Tucson restaurants. The originality starts with the location and outside of the restaurant.
The Parish restaurant is located at Oracle Road and Orange Grove Road in a small unimpressive strip mall. This mall has seen many lives, but now is home to an array of stores that includes restaurants, manicurist, pet store and other assorted shops.
But Its What’s Inside That Counts
The unassuming store front of The Parish hides a comfortable eatery with friendly staff serving bold Southern Cajun food. There is seating for about 50 guests. The relatively small bar area has staff willing to describe the menu and help you in selecting your “beverage” of choice.
For those without a personal preference, start with the signature drink menu, it has a little something for everyone.

The Coronet is another gem in the Tucson restaurant scene. A quaint french brassierie-style cafe is in the Coroanado Hotel. And just a short walk from Tucson’s downtown area.
To be more specific, it on the corner of 4th Avenue and East 9th Street. The Coronet serves old world European cuisine as you would expect in France or Italy.
The inside bar and dining is to say the least, cramped. But the outdoor patio is big and comfortable. Lots of shade. It creates a feeling of the cafes in Paris or Rome.
Be advised, it is right on the streetcar route. So its a bit noisy every 15 to 20 minutes. The Coronet opened in early 2014. Its discovery took some time. But it now boosts high ratings and a steady flow of business.
It had long been a bar/restaurant, but didn’t serve food. But the transformation by owners Sally Kane and Gregor Kretschmann. put it on the list of notable Tucson restaurants. And a people watchers paradise.
The Ambiance
Inside, The Coronet is a bit cramped room with a few tables hugging the walls. The marble bar dates back to 1906 from New River Arizona. In the TMI category, New River, Arizona is north of Phoenix off I-17.
The hardware on the main door and the shelving brackets on the walls are all authentic. As are the schoolhouse lights and handmade bistro chairs. And the patio trees are Chinese pastiche. More shade is on the way.
During the day, the pace is calm. Umbrellas and Pistache trees provide shade. The streetcar moves along its scheduled route with a bit of a clatter. And people mill about on the 4th avenue.
As the sun goes down the mood at The Coronet changes. The patio is close to the 4th avenue underpass. The noise of cars and motorcycles increases in volume. Downright noise. But the activity in the area is fascinating to watch.
And Now For The Food
The Coronet Chefs have created a simple menu. The menu provides fresh, flavorful ingredients with interesting side dishes. OH, and for the thirsty, there are some great bar selections.
Saying menu is not the whole story. There are six menus. Happy Hour, Evening, Brunch, Drinks and Deserts. Yes, and a kid’s menu.

HiFalutin Is A Locally Owned Restaurant On The East Side Of Oracle Road Just South Of Casas Adobe Plaza
Since opening in 2002, HiFalutin has made a name for itself as the place to go for Southwest food.
Hifalutin is a comfy western bistro, with indoor and outdoor seating on Oracle Road.
Its decor creates images of a western bunkhouse crossed with a mexican hascienda.
This restaurant has something for everyone and that means lots of choices!

Wisdom’s Cafe – Its Not Just For Breakfast Anymore
In 1944, Wisdom’s Cafe opened its doors along the old Nogales Highway south of Tubac. For 35 years the Wisdom family restaurant was a favorite place for residents of Nogales and Green Valley, AZ.
The opening of I-19 in 1979 caused a brief interruption to the business. But family members came to the rescue and reopened Wisdom’s in 1980.
Longevity in the restaurant business can be fleeting, if non-existent. But to survive in Tumacacori, AZ for over 70 years means the Wisdom family does it right.
Wisdom’s Cafe is 1500 feet north of the Tumacacori San Jose Mission in Tumacacori, AZ. That is 3 miles south of Tubac and 20 north of Nogales, AZ. Not exactly the cross roads of southern Arizona in 1944. But it served breakfast and had a raucous bar.
Howard Wisdom, the founder, was a cowboy and horseman. To show his skills, he built a roping arena next to the Cafe. It became a gathering spot for many rodeo champions. Cowboys came from Mexico and the United States to rope and ride. They would show off their skills and endurance both in the arena and the bar.
Wisdom’s Cafe And Their Fruit Burrito
One of the specialties at Wisdom’s Cafe is their World Famous Fruit Burrito. Fruit Burrito? Hmm. This menu mainstay, as legend has it, was a kitchen accident. A tortilla with jam spread on it fell into hot cooking oil. Upon removing it from the oil, the cook decided to take a bite. And liked it.
The wisdom of cook was to not throw out the accident, but make it a menu special. Today, Fruit Burritos are a mainstay on the menu with different fruit flavors.
And if the Fruit Burrito isn’t enough of a reason to head to Wisdom’s cafe, the margaritas are. It is hard to believe a margarita can be this good. What makes it great? No clue, but they are. Some suggest the tequilla pour is very generous.
Caution! If you are the driver, one may be one to many.
The location near the San Jose Mission and the huge white chicken outside make Wisdom’s Cafe easy to find.
Wisdom’s Cafe opened a second location in Tubac, AZ. “Dos” features craft beers and wine on tap. The Dos menu is a collection of great Mexican dishes at reasonable prices. And home made Ice Cream to top off the meal.
