GVR has a Member Service Center and 13 recreation centers. With over 13,000 households and an estimated 27,000 individual members GVR has something for everyone.

Membership is a deed restriction in perpetuity. Not being a member is not an option. GVR membership passes from home owner to home owner.

Green Valley Services

The Green Valley Fire District provides fire and emergency services to residents. Stations are placed in key locations within Green Valley to provide quick response to all emergencies.

The Green Valley Hospital serves the medical needs of Green Valley, Tubac, and Sahuarita. The hospital opened in 2015. The hospital serves the adult population of the area. It has 50 acute care beds, 4 operating room, emergency room and full ancillary services.

Green Valley is unincorporated. But a “Coordinating Council” addresses community issues, growth, and development.

The history of the Catalina Foothills began in the early 1920’s. The Catalina Foothills area was federal trust land. Residential property development began north of River Road. Ten new housing subdivisions sprang up almost overnight. Early subdivisions offered large lots and low-density residential living.

Good fortune came to these first residential developments. Josias Joesler. Joesler arrived in America in the late 1920’s from Switzerland. He had been a successful architect there, but wanted new challenges.

Joesler designed many of the homes in these neighborhoods in the 1930’s. He went on to design many of the homes throughout the Catalina Foothills.

A “Joesler” home is a sought after and treasured home in the Foothills.

The Catalina Foothills has a population of over 50,000. Most subdivisions are low-density, giving them a rural character. The Catalina Foothills have some of Tucson’s most impressive homes. Tucson City lights and mountain views abound.

The Catalina Foothills is where some of the most high-priced homes and lots can be found. The “Foothills” has the highest median home value in Tucson.

Catalina Foothills School District

The Catalina Foothills School District began about this same time. CFSD’s first facility was at East River Road and North Campbell Avenue. That building continues in service as a CFSD’s administration facility.

Catalina Foothills High School is south of Skyline Drive and west of Swan Road. CFSD is a top school in Tucson and Arizona. The Catalina Foothills residents founded the Skyline Country Club in 1963. Skyline Country Club is one of the Foothills private clubs.

La Encantada

La Encantada opened in 2005 and brought high-end retail shopping to Tucson. It is in the Catalina Foothills on the northwest corner of Skyline and Campbell Avenue.

The Catalina Foothills provide world class accommodations. Hacienda del Sol, Westin La Paloma, and Loews Ventana Canyon. The world famous Canyon Ranch Resort is nearby.

Senae opened in July 2016. Owned and operated by Amonwadee “Dee” Buizer and her husband Jim. Senae Thai Bistro features traditional Thai cuisine, with an emphasis on authenticity.

The dining experience at Senae maximizes the ethnic experience with authentic Thai food. Senae is a “Thai Select” restaurant in the United States.

Chef “Dee” was invited to participate in the THAIFEX 2018 International Trade Exhibition in Bangkok. There were only 32 Chefs selected – WORLD WIDE. Senae Thai Bistro is one of six Thai Select restaurants in Arizona. And the only one in Tucson, AZ.

Chef Dee uses local sources ingredients  for her restaurant to the extent possible. She is in partnership with the U of A to grow herbs and vegetables for Senae.

The flavors in every dish explode with every bite. And added spices are available to enhance the experience. Five levels of spice to be exact.

For the novice Thai food lovers, a level 1 to 3 is the safe choice. For those more experienced or adventuresome level 4 or 5 may be the choice. But a little caution is good with this choice.

A little dab will do ya! Try a small taste. And dive in at your own risk.

The long anticipated Green Valley Hospital project will be a reality in mid 2015. The Hospital will be Green Valley’s first and, at this time, only hospital.

The Hospital is being built by McDowell Enterprises, base in Scottsdale Arizona. The Green Valley Hospital project comes in at about $72 million.

The facility will be 3 stories and be run as a for-profit hospital. The Green Valley Hospital is planned to have 50 general acute care beds and a 12 bed emergency room and 4 large operating suites.

Green Valley Hospital will serve the Green Valley community along with the growing Sahuarita area. The hospital will have a full laboratory and blood bank, medical imaging devices, inpatient pharmacy and the ability to treat infectious diseases.

Its location is on the I-19 frontage road at I-19 and Conao Ranch Drive. The building will have a helipad for quick patient transport to Tucson area hospitals for specialized services.

The need for a Green Valley Hospital was identified as the biggest issue of Green Valley residents from a 2010 community survey. A critical component from the survey was the need for emergency care. Without emergency care in Green Valley AZ, the closest emergency services where 25 miles away in Tucson AZ.

Jobs

Green Valley Hospital is expected to create about 250 full-time jobs to the area. Many of these jobs will be higher paying registered nurses and medical technicians.

The Green Valley Hospital campus will include three medical office buildings for doctors, patients’ services and physical therapy facilities.

bluefin restaurantBluefin Restaurant is simply a gem in the desert. This Tucson restaurant is tucked away in the Casas Adobes plaza. Bluefin is one of the restaurants in Tucson AZ to satisfy that seafood fix. Especially, if you live in the Oro Valley AZ or the Northwest Tucson area.

The Bluefin menu offers a wide array of terrific seafood. For the meat lover there is an ample selection as well. Bluefin Seafood Bistro is the sister restaurant to KingFisher Bar and Grill.

It was once difficult to get fresh fish and seafood anywhere but a coast. Today it can be savored almost anywhere. That is what this Tucson Restaurant specializes in – great fish and seafood. The Bluefin menu offers sea bass, cod, lobster, shrimp and much much more.

Bluefin seafood restaurant is somewhat hidden in Casas Adobes plaza. It is in the back area in the center of the plaza. Once you find it, you will never forget the location.

Bluefin restaurant has a nice bar and patio seating on the lower level. The main dining room is upstairs. The large windows of Bluefin’s upstairs dining area provide views of the Catalina Mountains. Bluefin Seafood Bistro staff provide friendly, fast and efficient service.

Bluefin restaurant has happy hour Monday through Friday from 4:30 PM to 6:30 PM. This is a great after work meeting place for a coctail and appetizer special.
